Overview

Medicinal plants can be used for purposes other than their chemical components; though, because of their holistic nature, they frequently have other benefits over pharmaceuticals, like less side effects and improved body compatibility. Medicinal plants have various therapeutic uses. Medicinal plants still significantly impact healthcare, providing sustainable and all- natural options for boosting health and curing disease, even in the face of advances in synthetic medicine research.

Experimental Pharmacology Laboratory (EPL) has established the facilities for development of drugs from Natural Products (Phytopharmaceuticals). The medicinal plant research facility functions in the area of research, education and popularization of medicinal plants This facility targets PK/PD and toxicity study of Natural Products. The main milestone for the attainment of the higher objective in the field of medicinal plant research is the establishment of Centre of excellence for Preclinical and clinical research of AYUSH Medicines.

Research Focus

  • Our research focuses on to identify active phytoconstituents of medicinal plants/Trees extracts/essential oils for the treatment of infection caused by Multiple drug resistance bacterial and fungal pathogens.
  • To generate the preclinical data for AYUSH drugs.

Research Focus

  • Study to evaluate new potential effect of Natural Products (Hydrogel) in treatment of refractive cases of Candida albicans as an add on therapy (product development).
  • To study the synergistic effect of Medicinal plants of Northwestern Himalayas in combination with antibiotics against Bacterial pathogens.
  • Study to evaluate the effect of Medicinal plants (Rheum australe, Origanum majorana, Artemisia absinthium & Prunus armeniaca) / Formulations in experimental model of wound healing.
